Joey Barrientes is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about helping clients discover their strengths and navigate life’s challenges with confidence and support. Joey earned his Master’s degree in Counseling and Development from Lamar University and his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas.

Before becoming a counselor, Joey spent several years working in education as a teacher and coach at both the middle school and high school levels. This experience gave him a strong foundation in supporting adolescents and young adults through academic, social, and emotional challenges. While Joey has extensive experience working with teens and young adults, he enjoys working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life stages.

Joey primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful change in their lives. His counseling approach is collaborative, supportive, and focused on each client’s strengths. Joey believes therapy is a journey, and he is committed to walking alongside clients as they work toward growth, healing, and personal fulfillment.

Joey offers in-person counseling in the Flower Mound area, serving clients in surrounding DFW communities including Lantana, Argyle, Highland Village, Grapevine, Keller, and Denton. He also provides secure virtual therapy for clients throughout Texas. Joey's license number is 91873.
